All roles are open and include Aladdin, Genie, Iago, Jafar, Jasmine, Magic Carpet, Razoul, Sultan, Narrators and Ensemble.

Prospective cast members will be expected to share a short piece of dialogue, which they will receive at auditions, learn and perform a short dance in small groups and come prepared to sing either “A Friend Like Me” or “A Whole New World” in small groups and alone. Scripts may be checked out at the APAC office by leaving a $10 deposit.

The production runs June 21-30. A special read-through rehearsal will be held on Saturday, May 11, at 10 a.m., and regular rehearsals begin Monday, May 20. Most actors can expect to rehearse Mondays through Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. For more information, please call 322-9924.

WIS researcher wins state title

Anne Nakamoto, a seventh-grader at Waiakea Intermediate School, took first place in the Junior Research Division at the 56th Hawaii State Science and Engineering Fair in

Honolulu on April 9.

Hawaii District students received many other awards, with Matthew Sueda to represent the Hawaii District at the International Science and Engineering Fair in Phoenix, Ariz., in May.

“Nakamoto’s win raises the number of first place Junior Research awardees from Hawaii District to five in the past 13 years, recognizing emphasis and excellence in the sciences,” said Marlene Hapai, one of the founders of the Hawaii District Science and Engineering Fair, held each year in Hilo.
